Simply mix 2 tablespoon with 1/2 cup water and simmer until it has reduced by half. This leaves roughly 2 ounces of strong tea. Let cool to at least room temperature before adding honey. Add 2-3 ounces of honey (best if using raw honey). Stir or shake to combine. Keep refrigerated. Keeps for 60 days. Take 1 teaspoon every few hours or as needed. Safe for children over a year (as honey is not recommended for children younger than 1 year old).

Note: most of the time, valerian has a calming and relaxing effect, however it has been shown that in very few people, valerian may have a rousing effect. Try first dose during the day and monitor effect before taking dose prior to bedtime for best results.
With valerian, exercise caution during the use of barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and other sedative drugs, as valerian has the potential to increase the effects of some sedatives.
